RESIDENTIAL ORGANICS RECYCLING PROGRAM 

The Utilities Department’s Residential Organics Recycling Program began in 2022 with California law, Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383). SB 1383 requires all jurisdictions to reduce the amount of Organic Waste (food waste, green waste, and food-soiled paper products) that end up at the landfill by recovering organic waste for beneficial uses, such as compost.
