P.A.L. is a City-wide recreational program for youth and teens which provides free educational, cultural, and athletic activities for boys and girls in the Santa Maria Valley.
With support from the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, the People for Leisure and Youth, Inc. (PLAY, Inc.), officers from the Santa Maria Police Department and community volunteers, this program is open to youth in the 7th- through 12th grades and offers a variety of fun and exciting programs and activities such as baseball, softball, Girls Circle, BMX and more. Sign up at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center, 600 S. McClelland Street.
P.A.L. also offers a mentoring program where youths are paired with a mentor in order to establish a one-on-one relationship where both learn and grow together to promote a positive and healthy lifestyle. The relationship provides the presence of a caring responsible adult who provides support, motivation, guidance, and advice to help the mentee succeed.
