Facility Information and Reservations

The Recreation and Parks Department has a facility to accommodate all of your needs. Whether it be a wedding reception, class reunion, birthday party, baby/bridal shower, wedding anniversary, promotional event, conference or seminar, we can accommodate your need. Facility highlights include:

Reservation Policies

The Recreation and Parks Department provides six community centers located in diverse settings for public and private use. All reservations must be made at least 3 weeks in advance of the date of your event and require a refundable deposit in addition to the required use fee. Full facility rentals at Atkinson Community Center, Elwin Mussell Center and Veteran’s Memorial Community Center require a minimum of a 90 days notice.

Located at Atkinson Park this facility features an assembly room and kitchen available for rental of your organization’s next community event, family gathering or a mid-size party.

Located at Sierra Vista Park this facility features both a multi-purpose room and kitchen perfect for small parties and family gatherings. A full size gymnasium is also available for basketball and volleyball activities.

Elwin Mussell Center
510 East Park Avenue

Located next to Alice Trefts Park this community senior center offers a large multi-purpose room with a collapsible wall that can be divided into two smaller rooms (Silva I, Silva II). Its outdoor patio, large barbecue grill, and beautifully decorated lobby makes for an ideal venue reservable for both community and senior events.

Located at Grogan Park this facility features both a multi-purpose room and kitchen. The attractiveness of the site is highlighted by a neighborhood park with an open turf area that is idea for the family touch football game, soccer game or just relaxing.

Located at Maramonte Park this facility features a multipurpose room that offers the ideal location for small parties, seminars and small gatherings. A covered patio offers outside dining opportunities. The attractiveness of the site is highlighted by a neighborhood park with tennis courts, horseshoe pits and a baseball field.

Located at Adam Park this facility features two multi-functional rooms, a large assembly room and a studio room. Please note this community center is only reservable by community organizations.

Built in 1934, this Spanish-style structure offers a romantic ambience as each room opens to a courtyard with a colorful fountain. Designated as a City of Santa Maria Historical Landmark, the facility offers a studio and an auditorium with a stage. This facility can accommodate a variety of occasions, especially for groups in excess of 500.

The premier sports complex on the Central Coast attracts sport competitions from throughout the nation. The center includes four multi-purpose fields, a snack bar, playground, and restrooms. The Paul Nelson Aquatics Center offers and Olympic-size competition pool, as well as a recreational pool with a gentle sloping entryway. The frog-shaped water slide and water umbrella are favorites for non-swimmers and children. The landscaping and festive atmosphere is perfect for pool parties and barbecues. Located at Bob Orach Park this community building shares space with a seven-acre park that offers visitors a large playground and an abundant open space perfect for a game of soccer, flag football, flying a kite and much more.
