Literacy Center
The Santa Maria Public Library is proud to be partners with the Central Coast Literacy Council (CCLC) since 2006. Together, we provide a Literacy Center prominently located on the ground floor, adjacent to the Learning Center.
CCLC's Mission: Empowering Lives through English Literacy
Founded as a non-profit in 1983, the Literacy Council recruits and trains volunteer tutors to help students to become literate in English. The community-based classes and instructional materials are provided to the students at no cost. CCLC depends on the generosity of tutors. CCLCís services include: One-to-One Tutoring, Interactive Literacy Software, Community-Based Learning Centers, and Workplace English Literacy Partnerships.
Visit the Central Coast Literacy Council website for more information about the literacy program offered.
