Santa Maria Public Library Foundation (SMPLF) supports afterschool homework help, local history projects and MakerSpace programs in the library’s diverse service areas including Cuyama, Guadalupe, Los Alamos, Orcutt, and Santa Maria.

Friends of the Library groups are nonprofit, charitable groups formed to support community libraries in the Santa Maria Public Library System. They provide volunteers and funding to:

  • Sort and sell donated materials to benefit the library in acquiring additional print and non-print materials to augment the collection

  • Hold fundraising events

  • Sponsor cultural events of interest to the community such as the work of local authors and artists

  • Advocate for their library
