Duties:
Advises the City Council on planning matters and implements planning policies adopted by the City Council. The Commission is required by State Law to take steps toward the development and adoption of the General Plan and to implement that Plan toward the orderly growth of the community.
Membership:
Five members nominated by individual Councilmembers, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The term is four years and/or coterminous with the nominating Councilmember's term. Must be a City resident.
Meeting Schedule:
Regular meetings are scheduled on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 110 East Cook Street. Study Sessions are periodically held the Thursday following a regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. in Shepard Hall at the Santa Maria Public Library, 421 South McClelland Street.
