The City of Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to present its monthly book club, The Valley Reads on Tuesday, July 24th in Shepard Hall.
Maya’s Notebook by Isabel Allende tells the story of 19-year-old Maya Vidal. After the death of Maya’s beloved grandfather, Maya turns to drugs, alcohol and petty crimes. When Maya becomes trapped in a war between assassins, the police, the FBI, and Interpol, Maya’s grandmother helps Maya escape to a remote island off the coast of Chile where she tries to make sense of her life.
To join The Valley Reads please come to the City of Santa Maria Public Library and sign-up with staff at the second-floor information desk.
The Valley Reads meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month in Shephard Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Complimentary snacks and coffee will be served.
The Library’s hours are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Library is closed on Sunday. The Library is located at 421 South McClelland Street.
