Representatives are Sought to Serve on Various City Committees

 

Applications are now being accepted for the Board of Appeals, Landmark Committee, Library Board of Trustees, and the Santa Maria Community Television Board until sufficient applications have been received and the vacancies may be filled.

 

Board of Appeals (one vacancy to fill an unspecified term). The Board hears appeals to decisions of the City Building Official and makes recommendations regarding Uniform Building Code provisions.  Seven members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council, including two special purposes members.  One vacancy is open for a special purposes member.  Special purposes members shall be physically handicapped as defined in Section 2.4117(I), Title 24, Part 2 of the California Administrative Code.  Members must be City residents and may not be employees of the City of Santa Maria. 

 

LANDMARK COMMITTEE (two vacancies to fill unexpired terms ending in 2019 and two vacancies to fill terms ending in 2021).  This five-member Committee advises the City Council on preservation and designation of historical landmarks.  Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.  The Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.

LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES (one vacancy to fill an unexpired term ending in 2019).  The Library Board is a five-member body which sets library rules and regulations and advises the City Council on library matters.  It meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m., in the Library Conference Room.   Applicants must be a City resident.  Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. 

 

SANTA MARIA COMMUNITY TELEVISION (one vacancy to fill a two-year term ending January 2020).   This three-member Board sets policies and regulations relative to public, educational and governmental (PEG) access and serves as an appeals board for sanctions levied by the PEG Station Manager against members.  Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.  The Committee meets no less than two times per year on an as-needed basis.
