Makerspace Expanded Hours

The City of Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to offer expanded hours in its Makerspace program. Events will be held every Saturday in the Learning Center in the Library from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Makers of all levels and all ages are encouraged to attend.

Virtual Reality exploration is available at every Makerspace event. Restrictions apply and a signed form is required. Patrons must be at least 13 years of age to use the Virtual Reality headset. A Makerspace is a place where people with shared interests, especially in computing and technology, can gather to work on do-it-yourself projects while sharing ideas, tools and equipment, and knowledge.

The Santa Maria Public Library Makerspace program is offered in collaboration with Allan Hancock College and the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum.  Funding for the program is provided through a grant awarded to Allan Hancock College from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

The library’s hours are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Library is closed on Sunday. The Santa Maria Public Library is located at 421 South McClelland Street.

Questions may be directed to the Santa Maria Public Library Reference Services, located on the second floor of the Library or by calling (805) 925-0994 extension 8562.
