Sewing with Ms. Burns


Teens in the 7th- through 12th grade are invited to “Sewing with Ms. Burns,” a free course to be held on Saturday, January 13th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. This is presented by the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department’s Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center.


This course is designed for those with little to no experience, and will teach teens how to safely operate, prepare, and maintain a sewing machine. All materials will be provided. Michelle Burns is a skilled seamstress who has experience teaching at Allan Hancock College.


Registration is available online at, at the Recreation and Parks Department’s administrative office (615 South McClelland Street) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center (600 South McClelland Street) Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
