Annual Switch to Groundwater
From Friday, October 30th through Monday, November 23rd, the City of Santa Maria will switch to groundwater for its water supply while the State Department of Water Resources conducts annual maintenance activities on the State Water Project pipeline. City water users will receive drinking water exclusively from groundwater, instead of the City’s typical blend of groundwater and State Water.
Due to increased hardness occurring naturally in groundwater, City water users will likely notice some difference in the quality of the water. During this time, the City will continue to monitor water quality and the City’s water distribution system to ensure that water delivered continues to meet all State and Federal standards.
For questions regarding the annual switch to groundwater, a qualified water quality specialist is available weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at 925-0951 ext. 7270.
Please direct any questions to the Utilities Department at 925-0951 ext. 7270.
