Prepare for next storms
More rain is predicted today through Tuesday, January 17. Residents should remain vigilant as conditions can change quickly. Residents are encouraged to:
- Take advantage of this gap between storms to stock up on groceries, gas, essentials.
- Monitor the weather.
- Prepare and protect your home now.
- Keep at least half a tank of gas in your vehicle.
- Keep an emergency supply kit in the vehicle.
- Load up on sandbags. Know where to get free sand at five stockpiles provided by the City (bring your own bags). Only fill sandbags about halfway so you can stack them in a row, or a wall, to block water.
- Stay out of flood waters. Water may still be rising. Waters can hide hazards.
- Rapidly flowing water can sweep you off your feet and your vehicle downstream.
Residents may stay informed by using an interactive City road closure map and sand location map posted online at https://arcg.is/1evPrj1. Motorists can check local highway conditions by calling the Caltrans District 5 Public Affairs phone line at (805) 549-3318 or online at https://dot.ca.gov/caltrans-near-me/district-5. Road information is also posted at: https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/.
Residents are also encouraged to follow the City’s social media pages, or check the City’s webpage, www.cityofsantamaria.org, for the latest information.
Those experiencing homelessness can contact the Warming Center Hotline at (805) 324-2372. A Freedom Warming Center will open Friday through Monday at the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene, 1026 Sierra Madre.

Prepárate para las próximas tormentas
Se pronostica más lluvia desde hoy hasta el martes 17 de enero. Los residentes deben permanecer atentos ya que las condiciones pueden cambiar rápidamente. Se alienta a los residentes a:
• Aproveche esta brecha entre tormentas para abastecerse de comestibles, gasolina, artículos esenciales.

• Mantenga un equipo de suministros de emergencia en el vehículo.
