Active Aging Week

Adults 50+ years of age are encouraged to celebrate Active Aging Week. From Saturday, October 1st through Friday, October 9th, the Elwin Mussell Senior Center (510 East Park Street) will have a series of fun activities offered by the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department and Active Aging Committee.

The full schedule of events is available online at

The week-long observance celebrates active aging adults as fully participating members of society and promotes the benefits of leading an active, healthy lifestyle.

The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is offering several free exercise classes such as Zumba, Zumba Chair Workout, Hula for Health, Yoga Fusion, and the Build Your Own Body (BYOB) class for adults over age 50.

Returning on Tuesday, October 4th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is the Active Aging Week Luncheon, at the Elwin Mussell Center. The Active Aging Week Luncheon hosted by Santa Maria Terrace will include a free lunch for individuals 50+ years of age and feature guest speakers from the Alzheimer’s Association and Dignity Health providing tips on how to age healthily. The first 100 luncheon guests will receive a special gift.
