Summer Reading Kick-Off Event

The City of Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to present programs to kick off the Library’s annual Summer Reading Program, Saturday, June 4th. This year’s theme is “Read Beyond the Beaten Path.” Join Library staff for a full day of stories, music, animals, and more.

The Summer Reading 2022 Kick-Off begins with a musical performance featuring Birdie Music at 11:00 a.m. in Lavagnino Plaza.  Throughout the day, there will be a chance to meet and take photos with story book characters, Ariel and Belle, have an airbrushed face painting, read to therapy dogs, and much more.

In the Altrusa Theater, Central Coast Tidepools on Tour will be onsite with mobile aquariums featuring local sea life from 11:00 a.m.  to 1:00 p.m. Space is limited.

The culminating performance of the day will feature INCA, the Peruvian Ensemble at 2:00 p.m.  INCA will perform a variety of dance and music in English y Español, which originates from Peru and Andean regions.
