Rec on the Move

The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department will continue to offer its free after-school program, Rec on the Move, through April. Rec on the Move provides a safe and fun-filled setting for youth ages 6 through 12 to participate in after-school recreation.

The program takes place from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. each Monday at Buena Vista Park (800 South Pine Street), each Wednesday at Tunnell Park (1100 North Palisade Drive), each Thursday at the Newlove Community Center (1619 South Thornburg Street), and each Friday at Russell Park (1000 West Church Street).

The Easter-themed activities planned for the month of April kick off with “bunny” sack races during the week of April 4th. There will be egg drop challenges taking place during the week of April 11th and spoon-balancing relays coordinated for the week of April 18th. The series will conclude with games of Capture the Egg during the week of April 25th. Rec on the Move is a drop-in program; therefore, no registration is required to participate.

The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department’s mission is to enrich the lives of the residents of Santa Maria through quality recreation programs and services
