City Assisting Businesses with Re-opening Allowances
Santa Maria businesses authorized to reopen during this health emergency will receive assistance and temporarily allowed modifications from the City of Santa Maria’s Community Development Department.
The following modifications to land use regulations are temporarily allowed, as part of the City’s phased re-opening:
Businesses authorized to reopen are exempt from temporary signage requirements;
Retail businesses and restaurants may designate non-ADA parking stalls as assigned parking areas for merchandise or food pick-up, or for delivery services;
Restaurants may use their parking lot to establish outdoor dining areas.

Everyone in Santa Maria is encouraged to continue physical distancing, washing their hands with soap and water frequently, wearing masks, and sanitizing surfaces. The pandemic is not over. County Public Health Department tests continue to confirm new COVID-19 cases in Santa Maria.
The City and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce are assisting local businesses with the process of safely and successfully reopening. The Chamber offers numerous resources online.
Before any business can reopen, it is required to review State guidance and local guidance, complete a COVID-19 Prevention Plan, and self-certify that it can put into place specific health care, sanitation, and spacing rules to keep customers and workers safe during the ongoing pandemic.
