NEWS RELEASE

March 25, 2020

Foodbank, City, CAC Partner to Help Community

The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, in collaboration with the City of Santa Maria and the Community Action Commission (CAC), is accepting requests for home delivery of food for adults of 60 years and older, and those 55 and older with a disability.

Call 2-1-1 to request home delivery for qualified seniors. This Foodbank service begins today. Callers may either leave a message or wait for a call specialist. The delivery consists of staple goods.

This service is offered across Santa Barbara County, except in Cuyama. The Foodbank provides food to the Cuyama Family Resource Center but does not coordinate home delivery.

The City is redeploying a handful of its Public Library employees to staff the call center. This is another way the City is supporting the community

Questions about the food program may be directed to Lacey Baldiviez, the Foodbank’s Director of Community Programs and Education, at lbaldiviez@foodbanksbc.org; or the City’s involvement to Public Information Manager Mark van de Kamp, at (805) 925-0951 extension 2372.
