Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony – Rain or Shine!

The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, and People for Leisure and Youth, (PLAY, Inc.) invite community residents to the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 7th at the City Hall Courtyard, located on the corner of Cook Street and Broadway (Highway 135).

Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. and include refreshments, holiday caroling by the Coastal Voices Choir, and the grand illumination of the 24-foot Christmas tree at 5:20 p.m. to coincide with the start of the Rotary Christmas Parade of Lights.

The tree will be lit by 2-year old Josiah Ezra Gomez and his family. He is a dinosaur enthusiast and T-rex fanatic. Josiah was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia over a year ago, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and stem-cell transplants. His condition has not set him back from building blanket forts with his sister and dancing to the beat of the music. Josiah’s family is grateful to the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, Bumblebee Foundation, Lisa Brown from Golden Circle of Champions, and Mission Hope Cancer Center for their dedicated care. Join Josiah and his family as they welcome the holiday season.
