The Valley Reads Book Club

The City of Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to present its monthly book club, The Valley Reads, on Tuesday, January 22nd in Shepard Hall.

Before We Were Yours, by Lisa Wingate, is a novel that takes place both in 1939 Tennessee and present-day South Carolina. In 1939, the story follows Rill Foss and the Foss siblings as they are stolen from their family and placed in a cruel orphanage. In the present, readers follow Avery Stafford. Avery is a Federal prosecutor from a wealthy family who stumbles on the family’s rather shady past and must find a way to come to terms with it.

To join The Valley Reads, please come to the Public Library and sign-up with staff at the second-floor Information desk.

The Valley Reads meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month in Shepard Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; complimentary snacks and coffee are served.

The Library’s hours are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Library is closed on Sunday. The Library is located at 421 South McClelland Street.
