The Santa Maria Police Department’s Community Service Unit consists of officers whose main assignments are handling calls for service while on patrol, but which include collateral duties addressing specific issues within the City which are divided into reporting beats. There are three beats. Personnel assigned to the unit are:

Sergeant Christopher Nartatez, Patrol Sergeant 928-3781 ext. 511. Work cell phone: 310-9845. Sgt. Chris Nartatez has been with the Santa Maria Police Department for the past 14 years and is the Day Shift Patrol Supervisor. Prior to the Santa Maria Police Department he worked for the Guadalupe Police Department as an Officer and as Chief of Police for 21 years.

BEAT 1: Corporal Woody Vega. 928-3781 ext. 764. Work cell phone: 310-9850. Corporal Vega has been with the Santa Maria Police Department for the past 17 years. His past assignments include S.W.A.T., is currently one of the department’s Use of Force instructors, and a member of our Allan Hancock Police Academy’s staff.

BEAT 1 covers the area north of Fesler to the northern City limits.

BEAT 2: Officer Bryan Golston. 928-3781 ext. 1134. Work cell phone: 310-9663. Officer Bryan Golston has been with the Santa Maria Police Department since 2005. Prior to his employment at Santa Maria, he worked as a Police Officer at Atascadero State Hospital. Officer Golston is a dedicated and resourceful officer who is committed to community oriented policing.

BEAT 2 covers the area south of Fesler to Stowell Road.

BEAT 3: Corporal Jeff Lopez, 928-3781 ext. 1199. Work cell phone: 310-9668. Corporal Jeff Lopez has been with the Santa Maria Police Department for 18 years. His past assignments include our Gang Suppression Team and S.W.A.T. He is currently one of our department’s Impact Weapon’s instructors and a Report Writing instructor.

BEAT 3 covers the area south of Stowell Road to the City limits.
