How to Start City Utility Service

Visit the City of Santa Maria Department of Administrative Services at 110 East Cook Street between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to start City utility services. Be prepared to present photo identification and a Social Security number. A new account set up charge of $44.20 will be added to your first utility bill. The City does not require a deposit.

How to Discontinue, Transfer, or Change Utility Services

Visit the Department of Administrative Services at 110 East Cook Street or contact the office by phone at (805) 925-0951, extension 217 or 218 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to discontinue, transfer, or change utility services. Your utility customer account number is required to complete these transactions.

Utility Billing Notifications by Telephone

As of July, 2010, the City began using telephone notification to provide information about late utility bill payments. If your contact information has changed, please send an email to Utility Billing Update Notification and provide your name, address, account number, and telephone number at which you can be reached. You may receive a return phone call verifying your request. For more information, feel free to contact the Utilities Department at 925-0951 extension 7270.

Third-Party Payment Services

The City suggests that customers using a third party electronic payment service (on-line banking or merchant services) pay their bills 10 days in advance of the due date. If these services do not remit payments to the City before the final due date, customers will be responsible for late payment charges.
